Garr is now called Elvis because of his huge mane.  He lives with a lioness, and they get along just fine.

Nikiden is the other male lion that lives with my favorite girl, and the Akicita.

Nikita is a little cougar girl.

Osi is an African Black Leopard.  When most people see a big black cat, they think it is a black Panther.

Actually there is no such thing. It's either a back Leopard or a black Jaguar.  I didn't know that either...lol

If you look closely ,Oceola ("black drink" in the Miccosukee language of the Seminole Indians) actually

wrote some of the stories down in books and scrolls.

Cante is an Asian Leopard.

The organization I voluteer for is an non-profit organization, and we do not believe in declawing.

There was once a lion cub we rescued from a roadside zoo, and she had been declawed before we

got her. When she was about 2 years old and about 250 lbs. we went to feed her, she was walking

on her elbows because she was in so much pain (big cats don't show pain--it's a sign of weakness

to them...sad but true). The doctors sad that 9 out of her 10 front joints were infected with all kinds of

nastiness, so they had to re-operate on her, and redo the declawing what is technically an amputation

of the first joint.  They said it was a success, but the next day, she took her last breath. She gave up

fighting, and passed on.

It is sad that big cats are declawed by people who don't know any better.  They think

it will make them safer around these cat,  but it won't.  They will use their teeth more, and

when they bite--they mean it.  When they are declawed they have problems jumping and

running. Declawing is not "just" pulling a nail or cutting the nail down.

Thank you Sandy for submitting these wonderful pictures and story.
