~ Child ~
III

Unblemished by adult ears,

stories come out of us

like helium balloons

floating free

to a spotless sky.

She and I play for hours,

hoping our fantasy lives

will never disappear.

The world pays no attention,

but neither do we.

Our minds are filled

with princes and princesses,

castles and horses,

vistas and voyages,

spontaneous visions bursting into view

from the world of wonder,

where everything is as new

as a blooming rose.

From "The Wizard of Oz,"

to a pond where we swim together,

to the rare, unavoidable hurt,

our time together

reveals everything.

It bonds us forever.
