The Story Behind DreamWeaver's Fashion Designs

Have you ever wondered what inspires a There designer, or what it takes to design a fashion?  Do we get "burnt out?"  I have been asked these questions so many times, that I decided to post this page.

99% of my designs take hours to create.  This is not because they are what I consider complicated or hard to do (at least for me), but because of what it takes in my artwork, my digital art, and/or my photography to create the finished product.

Wild Hair Mermaid was used for Wild Hair

First I create the piece of artwork for each design.  Most of the time I use my own artwork such as in the Colors, Mermaid Blue, Wild Hair, Whispy Pink, and so many others.  Those are the obvious ones.  I often take them apart, and ad to, or delete design from them with the help of the programs I use.  The mermaid above is the design I created for Wild Hair.  I only used her upper body for the design because I could not get the effect I wanted with her being smaller.  She will be used again for another design soon.

I often take patterns I have created and make artwork and designs out of them.  Sometimes I use fabric or clothing I have, to create 'fabric' for the textures I use. I can also get things off the web that are available, and then I 'play' with them, and turn them into something different.  I also photograph things and then change their appearance to fit my needs.  This can take hours to do or just a few minutes, depending on what I am doing to it.

Each step is the 'key' to the designs I create...some of the 'keys' are very intricate, and others are simply simple.

I then decide what I want to do with the design.

I work in PaintShopPro 8, although many use PhotoShop 7 to create their designs.

In my work, I use at least 20 layers of artwork.  Often my designs have over 40 layers.  Sometimes I work in reverse, if that makes sense.  In other words, I start with the top layer and work down.

Soon I will attach a file here for those who want to know the basics on how to design.

As for inspiration...There has never been a time that I can't come up with an idea for an outfit.  Although I have gotten 'burnt out' once, but that did not last long.  I have several outfits I have created that I have not released, but perhaps in the future they will be.  I welcome ideas from each and everyone of you.  I also will do custom designs that are one of a kind, however, keep in mind that they will cost over 50,000 There $ to create if they are not released to the public.  If they will be released to the public as a limited edition of 10 or 15, I will do a custom design for the cost of submission (which is 8000 There $ for a t-shirt top) and 15,000 There $.
